Grand-Am Rolex Cars At Daytona

While at Daytona for the NASCAR race weekend, I got a bit of a break in the middle of the day Saturday to sit in the almost-deserted stands with a couple of the Dodge boys and snap a few pics of the Rolex cars running their 250-mile race, which ran on Daytona’s inner road course as well as its high-banked tri-oval. A lot of race fans are still baffled that Chevrolet declined to build a NASCAR Camaro, letting the new Challenger and Mustang race cars handily steal the spotlight. Though the NASCAR version would necessarily have a more templatized body and air dam, this Rolex Series car gives a sense of what a Nationwide Series Camaro should have looked like running the superspeedway this weekend. A Weekend at Mid-Ohio

From June 19-21, I covered the entire set of events at the Mid-Ohio Race Course and it was an absolute blast. I’ve attended the Rolex Series’ EMCO Gears Challenge since 2006, but this time I did something different. I got together with some friends and we stayed in an RV that was parked on the course! You would fall asleep to the silent, calming sound of an empty, peaceful track and wake up to the sound of racers taking the course at 200 MPH. It was relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. For someone as into racing as I am, the entire experience was a glimpse of heaven. View the full released gallery and read more after the jump.

The Rolex Series' EMCO Gears Challenge

This weekend, from June 19-21, I’ll be at the EMCO Gears Challenge at Mid-Ohio. I’ve attended this event for the past three years and every time, it’s been an absolute blast.
