Car Domain Blogger Wins First Episode of Forum Wars TV Show
By Rob Krider
Racerboy
Talking trash on car forums is a rite of passage for most car guys of the new millennium. Well, The Forum Wars has changed all of that. You see, this show mandates you gotta put your right foot where your mouth is. You think you and your ride are the baddest thing to ever hit a racetrack? Then do it in front of the cameras against an equal competitor.
I had to do just that after talking smack on Stangnet.com about how my friend’s car, a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT, owned by Steve Kuhtz, was the shi… stuff. The show pitted me against a SoCal drifter in a Nissan representing My350Z.com. We did battle on the drag strip and a road course to determine the overall champion.
I’m happy to report that, thanks to the boys at Shelby building a great car and a little last minute help from Hoosier Tires, Carbotech Brake Pads and I/O Port Racing Supplies, this Car Domain blogger came out the winner! The Forum Wars presented by Royal Purple is featured in one minute segments on the Speed Channel, with full episodes viewable online. Check out Episode One at www.forumwars.tv.

Engine Note Ringtones From Royal Purple
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
The other day, I got a press release from Royal Purple touting their new engine note ringtones site, and today I finally got a chance to check it out. They’ve got some pretty sick ones available for download, including the Aston Martin DB 7, Dodge Viper, and Ford GT350 Super. Rob would probably go for the Road Runner, and since there isn’t a Ford Escort it’s unclear which Jen would want, but my favorite was the Ferrari 355 GTB. It’s really hard to beat Enzo’s Cavallinos in the music department.

Speed Costs Money. Royal Purple Asks How Fast Do You Want to Go?
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Aside from actually winning a race there is perhaps nothing in racing as difficult as securing sponsorship. That’s what makes the contents of this post seem that much more incredible. Performance lubricant manufacturer Royal Purple and Stark Motor Racing recently announced that they are seeking requests for racing proposals for the upcoming 2010 season. Yes, you read that right. They want to sponsor you, provided you fit the bill of a dynamic professional or amateur racers who has an interest in primary sponsorship for the month(s) of April and/or May 2010 in order to promote Royal Purple’s new racing oil, XPR 3.1. They will be accepting proposals from automotive, truck, motorcycle, off-road and marine racers.
“We’re looking for racers and teams that really connect with tech-savvy fans” said Royal Purple VP of Sales & Marketing Mark McFann. “It doesn’t matter whether it’s drifting, circle track, straight track, whatever…we just want racers that connect with fans”.
Racers can get more information and submit proposals at www.starkmotorracing.com. Proposals will be accepted until January 31, 2010.

Forum Wars: "Talk Smack, then Hit the Track"
By Rob Krider
Racerboy
We have all probably spent way too much time (at work) surfing different car forums. Some of us have even gotten into knock down drag out fights on the Internet with some Bozo about the power capabilities of the Nissan SR20DE engine. The fact of the matter is, people love to talk trash on car forums. Speed TV has a new show coming out, The Forum Wars presented by Royal Purple, which pits different cars/forums against each other for a drag race and road course shoot out. Internet excuses are over. Put up or shut up. The show will air in early 2010.
See some of the cars and forum match ups on Jalopnik.

SoCal CTS-V, E63 AND C6 'Vette Owners, Royal Purple's "The Forum Wars" Needs You!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
We just got word from our buddies over at Royal Purple about “The Forum Wars,” an event that will pit owners of various enthusiast vehicles against each other, and it sounds pretty cool. The bad news is that to compete, you have to been able to be in Los Angeles by Friday. But the good news is that all the battles will be filmed for broadcast on SPEED, so if you’ve ever wanted to show the whole world that your driving shoes aren’t a fashion statement, this is right up your alley. Right now they’re looking for a CTS-V or an E63 Mercedes Benz to race a BMW M5, a Honda Civic Si or Mazdaspeed3 to battle a VW GTi, and a C6 Corvette to pit against a GT500 Shelby Mustang, and there are still plenty of spots. Apparently, the producers are having a hard time finding a ‘Vette owner who’s up to the challenge, so if you own one and know what you’re doing on the track, you should hit them up. Read the full press release with all the details on how to enter after the jump.

Video Roll: Zero to 386 Miles Per Hour
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
I’m told that once you go to The Salt you’ll be hooked for life. The quest for speed gets into your bones and there simply is no getting away from the place. And the people behind the Royal Purple Streamliner, Nish Motorsports are certainly addicted to Bonneville. Their quest to become the fastest wheel driven vehicle on the planet will know no reprise until this dream has been fulfilled and a new speed is imprinted into the record books. We’ll see how they do next week, but in the meantime we can enjoy this ride-a-long as the streamliner reached 386 mph in 2006. by Rod Chong
