Crazy FD3S RX-7
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I thought I’d just share some pics of a crazy FD3S RX7 that was on display at Autobacs booth at Tokyo Auto Salon. Honestly, I don’t like this car much. It is not my style and it looks a bit spo com HIN style to me. However I just had to share the pics because of the inventive use of those tail lights in the rear widebody fenders. I’d imagine that on the freeway at night those widely spaced low lights would really confuse anyone driving behind them at a distance.

History Lesson: The Mazda RX-7
By Steve Neill
Steve Neill
Taking a long look back through the history of time, we can see that man worked hard to improve upon ideas. From the use of the wheel, to the use of a tool as a weapon, to fire, to pretty much anything you use today, we all owe it to someone who worked hard and didn’t give up. In the early 50′s, NSU (Motorenworke AG) in Germany tried to put the newly designed Wankel Rotary engine to use, but to no avail. They sold their stake in its patents to Mercedes Benz, who were similarly unable to improve upon the design. They spent endless hours working on it, to make it more reliable, and more powerful, and less smoggy, but in the end, they too gave up.
It wasn’t until the introduction of the Mazda Cosmos that people took notice of the Wankel Rotary It was to change the automotive world, eventually being used in one of the greatest sports cars of all time: The Mazda RX-7.

JTP FC3S Drift Truck
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Over the next few weeks, as everyone anxiously awaits the start of the racing season, lots of car builders from all over are preparing their new cars. While this particular car is not intended for professional drifting use, I thought I’d just show some snaps of this Mazda FC3S truck that’s being built at JTP Motorsports, the garage of Formula D FC3S driver Justin Pawlak.
While we have shown you other FC3S trucks on Speedhunters previously, this particular FC3S truck is a bit different because it’s being made from an FC3S convertible! Just look at the way it sits! Outstanding. Continue reading at Speedhunters

"Works" Style SA22C RX7
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
One thing you might notice about Japan is the “team spirit” of its car enthusiasts. Whether its drift teams, VIP clubs, or even ita-sha groups, there are organizations dedicated to every type of car and model out there. Sometimes the clubs will be a broad group of friends that simply enjoy driving and hanging out, and other times they will be dedicated specifically to one type of car. If you are an RX7 fan, or fan of classic Japanese cars in general, you might have stumbled across the group known as “22C Works”. As the name suggests, 22C works is a club for owners of the first generation SA22C Mazda RX7 from around Japan. There are lots of cool 22C’s in the group, but we found one in particular we had to showcase this month. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Sexy Knights FC3S
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
The First time I came in contact with the drift team called Sexy Knights was after I saw a DVD from Gripvideo a few years back. In the clip they had a meeting with several other drift teams at Showup, Asahi. It’s like a grocery for car products. After the meeting they went out drifting in a undisclosed area in the Chiba prefecture. This clip has been around for ages and made them immortal as far as I’m concerned. The night time drifting on the public streets was something new for me, but I fell in love right after that.
The team is led by D1GP competitor Sotoshi Suzuki. The cars they have build in the past feature some wild sparkling paintjobs and ultra low bodykits. They used the same approach with this Rx7 FC build to compete in the D1 Street Legal series. Although the car could be lowered a bit more. Let’s have closer look at what makes this car stand out. JTP'S FC3S RX7 Is Mean in Green!
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
If you follow the Southern California drift scene at all, then it’s likely that you know the name Justin Pawlak, aka JTP. Our boy Justin has been making waves in the media recently, as one of the most popular new drivers in the Formula D series; even ending the season strong with a podium finish at Irwindale this year. Before Justin ever became popular in the Formula D circuit, he was popular in the Just Drift/All Star Bash world and a member of the Dori Dori Club from Cerritos, California. RX-7 Type R
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ever since we saw the rear diffuser on the Renault Megane Trophy shown at the Paris Motor Show we’ve been on the lookout for cool rear diffusers on CarDomain. JDMgeorgie imported this right-hand drive ’92 RX-7 Type R from Japan and started in on the mods, which included this carbon fiber rear diffuser. Doesn’t get much more JDM than that.

Here’s the video we did of Earl out at Pacific Raceways back in May. Earl is awesome, and his RX-7 pickup is freakin’ hilarious. Sean has a ton of pics of Earl’s car in this blog post.
