Honda S2000 from Hell
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
The nastiest Honda S2000 imaginable goes by the name “Honda S2000 from hell.” It has a kill list a mile long! Motorcycles, V8s, Nissan Z’s, and turbocharged Neons on meth can’t keep up with this car. Read more about this awesome JDM performance machine at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Bulletproof S2000 GT Topless
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
I’d like to share with you a view of my S2000 that even I had never seen before. Ever since I built the S2000, I had never once taken the top off. All of that changed recently. I’ve been on a bit of a quest to remind myself of why I love the S2000 so much. Keep in mind I started Bulletproof with this same very S2000 almost 10 years ago! As such, I’ve decided to transition from the car being a cool looking car into the car being fun to own and drive around town daily.
The transformation from cool to practical has come with several painful sacrifices. First off the Bride Gias and Stradia seats have been sold off. These photos show them for the last time in the car. Currently I have put the stock seats back in and I’m on a bit of a quest to find the perfect daily driving seats (any suggestions?). Continue reading at The Real JDM

FLUSH2K
By Speedhunters
Car Culture at Large
Without a doubt the aggressive wheel fitment trend is exploding in popularity. In fact I’d say it’s almost getting rarer to see new builds that don’t have wild wheel fitment. Even with all the “flushness” out there today, there are still some cars that stand out from the crowd. One of them is this AP2 S2000 spotted on the HellaFlush blog.
Maybe it’s the bright red paint, or maybe it’s the gleaming faces of the Enkei RPF1’s, but Damn this car looks cool.

S2000 + Mugen M7 in 18 Inch?!
MotorMavens.Com
Whoa! Check out what I saw last night! I was driving around near Pasadena when I noticed a black Honda S2000 with Mugen M7 wheels. Upon closer inspection, I found out that the car wasn’t actually black – it was dark green! Since this obviously isn’t an OEM Honda paint color, I knew I had seen this S2000 before! The only guy I know with an S2000 painted this color (Maserati Verde Good Wood Metallizato) is Alex Zhao from Southern Cali’s AS1 crew. Approaching the car for a closer look, I also noticed that Alex’s slammed S2K was proudly rocking a Motor Mavens “M” sticker on his windshield. Awesome.
I didn’t recognize the car at first, because the last time I saw it, it was wearing a different set of wheels. Apparently, Alex changes his wheels more often than most people change their oil. He was in the area to meet up with his friend Brian; another Honda guy who had his Acura RSX recently featured in Super Street. Obviously since Alex was already rocking a MotorMavens sticker on his window, he didn’t mind repositioning the car really quick so I could snap a few photos. (Luckily, I was coming back from another shoot and had all my gear with me!) Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens!

3pc Bumper? Voltex S2000 Development
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
I found this picture interesting since I don’t come across many bumpers that are 3 pieces (at least not pre-accident). My hunch is the production version of this bumper will be a 2pc version since I cant quite see the point of using three pieces, but there may be a very valid reason I’m simply overlooking. Anyone care to comment on why this is designed this way?
Either way, this is a really cool bumper that perfectly balances function and looks. Looking at that under diffuser, Voltex also continues to impress me with their advanced use of under body aerodynamics.

Rob and I worked together to produce this S2000, which I ultimately give Rob all the credit for because his vision for the car has been absolutely timeless. Lets look at the details. No knockoffs here… Continue reading at The Real JDM

Only In Europe: S2000 Widebody Conversion With European Taste
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
This was shown to me and suggested for the Hater Fodder category. After careful consideration, I decided it is not quite hater fodder material to me. This was a genuinely well considered attempt at doing something unique, with somewhat good execution (for the goals in which they intended). With that bit of respect being said, I absolutely dislike every ounce of this car. I don’t know who the maker of this widebody kit is, but I’ll affectionately call it the WTF YO AP1 S2000 widebody. I consider that to be an appropriate name for it.
It is interesting, there is a certian European style and taste for tuning Japanese cars that I’ve noticed prominently represented over the years. I cant describe it in words, but it jumps out at me in pictures. It is like Europe’s interpretation of spocom or something along those lines. In other words something bad, turned worse in translation. The rear of this WTF YO kitted S2000 defines exactly what I could use as a stereotypical example of my dislike for European aero tuning and styling. Continue reading at The Real JDM

Bolt On S2000
By Speedhunters
Car Culture at Large
Just stumbled upon this pic of a very wild S2000. It features a very aggressive bodykit with lots of bolt on parts like the Amuse rear bumper, Spoon hardtop and very wide fenders. The wheels are a set of aggressive looking FN-01r’s made by 5Zigen, they look to me like 17″.

The Ultimate S2000 Bolt-On
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
There’s no doubt that the Honda S2000 is an amazing platform for tuning, especially with its 240hp, 9000rpm F20C. But ultimately, the S2000 has limitations that were imposed by the manufacturing, comfort, safety and cost targets that Honda had to reach. The World Class Motorsports never had to deal with any such issues when creating the Ultralite S2K. Continue reading after the jump!

Craftsquare New Mirror Shape
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
I’ve been a fan of craft square mirrors for what feels like forever now. The design has never really changed in the past decade, and yet they still look as functional and fresh as they ever did. That however didn’t stop Craft Square from developing a new shape. Will this ever see its way onto street cars? Perhaps. You can bet it’s functional—the Xanavi Super GT car runs them.

Modulo S2000 Concept Car: A Detail Nobody Noticed
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
Honda Modulo released a concept S2000 at Tokyo Auto Salon. Personally, I thought the car was really ugly. The chunky design reminded me of a Lamborghini Reventon, except a totally uncool and ugly one. The rear of this S2000 is especially awful and I’m glad to not be showing it to you.
However there was something totally amazing about this S2000 that almost nobody caught. Look at the gauges. Being an S2000 enthusiast and owner, this blew me away. They replaced the entire cluster with a full LED screen that has two modes, the classic tach-centric view that S2000 owners already know and love, plus this split view which is a more conventional readout, with the ability to toggle between the two totally different views. That cluster totally makes the car special to me, its a product that I’d love to get for my S2000! Unfortunately Honda Modulo never releases any products…oh well.

Honda Cuts More Projects Including New S2k
By Speedhunters
Car Culture at Large
Damn. Just a few weeks after we reported that Honda had halted developed of the next gen NSX, there’s word that they are scrapping some of their other projects as well. According to an article published on Autoweek.com, Honda is stopping development for the S2000 replacement, the CR-Z sports hybrid, and rear wheel drive luxury sedans that would be powered by a new V8 engine. The toughest news has to be the demise of the S2000 replacement, as it’s been one of the most popular Japanese sports cars out there since its debut 10 years ago.
The last time Honda really updated the S2000 was back in 2004, and it makes you wonder how long the aging model will remain in the lineup. As expected, Honda cites the poor auto market as the reason for these cuts. Sad news, but at least this guarantees the popularity of the current S2000 model for quite a while. Now might be a good time to pick one of those up if you were waiting on the now-dead replacement.

Tom’s S2000
By Ben Schaffer
Bulletproof Automotive
I consulted with Tom and supplied him the parts to build his dream S2000 about two years ago. This project from the beginning I knew would be special because Tom is someone who like myself is a real lover of high end JDM quality. No shortcuts were made, this car was prepared with simply the best of everything from the frame up. Continue reading…
