New Edelbrock Classic IAS Shocks for My Mopar!
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I’ve had the same old Monroes on my Mopar since I got it eight years ago. But for years I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Edelbrock Classic IAS shocks–Mr. Angry swears by them on his rides–and I’ve been wanting to try them out. I especially like the looks of the gray Classic shock but the red Performer version is cool, too. Anyway, there’s lots more I have to do to my suspension–ditch the stupid helper springs and get new leaf spring, beefier torsion-bars, etc. But I figured shocks were a good place to start, and the Quaker State video series we’ve been running gave me the perfect excuse! Bolt on was super simple and the ride improvement was huge! Thanks to Rick at Group 2 Motorsports for the demo! A bunch of pics plus the video of the install after the jump!

’66 Plymouth Pro Touring Concept
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Mike Musto sent me the link to this awesome ’66 Plymouth pro touring concept created by Reuben Zammit. I’ve been toying with ideas for my ’66 Satellite, and was thinking of going the pro touring route, especially after seeing the Ring Brothers Fairlane at SEMA last year. Either that or something slightly more NASCAR. Or should I go more Sox and Martin? Of course, I’m sorely lacking in money and time, but if anyone wants to sponsor a build, lemme know…

I Don't Want To Brag Or Anything, But…
By Rob Einaudi

That’s right, my ’66 Satellite took 2nd place in the ’62-67 Plymouth B-body modified class at this year’s All Mopar Spring Roundup. Truth is, I didn’t stick around long enough at the show to find out who won, and so I didn’t learn about my awesome result until last night, when Pete from Mopars Unlimited stopped by my house to drop off the trophy (thanks Pete!). First place went to the ’65 Belvedere parked next to me. Anyway, not bad, huh? Even when you consider there were only two cars in my category…

Ok, so maybe I’m biased… Tunnel rammed big block with a 4 speed! Two more pics after the jump—the interior is hilarious. Thanks Scott for the pics!

The Hack Car
By Rob Einaudi

A Jalopnik reader spotted this mean Mopar on the streets of San Francisco and snapped some pics with his iPhone. The flat back with mesh ’73 Satellite appeared on the cover of Information Society’s album “Hack” back in 1990. More at Jalopnik

Ouch!
By Rob Einaudi

I’ve seen this ’66 Satellite running around Fremont for the last year or two, and it’s the only other one I’ve ever seen in Seattle. Looks like he just got in a nasty liitle wreck (still has drums up front…). Wonder what his plans are at this point. I left him a note on his windshield, so we’ll see. But it’s already been marked by the cops. More pics after the jump.

Cross-country Move with a '73 Satellite and a U-Haul Trailer
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Brandon Flannery, editor for the Goodguys Gazette, was recently offered the option to telecommute, so he decided to move from California back to his native Georgia. He packed his stuff into a U-Haul trailer, hooked it up to his baby blue Mopar, and headed east. Brandon writes:
The Boss Ride aka Blue Goose had been upgraded with a 360 transplant and a fresh 904, and I drove it out, so I figured the only way to get it back in style would be to drive it. We chucked most of the big stuff, mailed several large boxes and stuffed the rest in the 5×8 U-Haul trailer, the back seat and the ol’ lady’s Jetta. Left on Thursday, got in Sunday night.
Let’s just say a 3,000 mile road trip on the 40 in August with no A/C is an adventure. I earned my stripes…. The only problem I encountered was a blown power steering high pressure hose that I forgot to make a bracket for on Saturday in Arkansas… in the afternoon, at 110 degrees…. Literally…. I foolishly tried to scab it together but it didn’t work. Broke down right in front of a Super 8 and a liquor store so we packed it in for the night.
Actually found a replacement hose in stock at an Advance 70 miles away in Little Rock so we jumped in the chase vehicle and got it, put it on, and kept on truckin’… I averaged 12mpg at about 72-3 mph… 17 gallon tank…. we stopped a lot. I think I used a quart and a half of oil, and had to pull it into low 2 on a few grades, but it never detonated or ran hot.
I hooked up my vintage Cobra CB and it was fun and helpful listening to the trucks for upcoming accidents and cops. I highly recommend one for over-the-road traveling. All in all a fun and a very hot trip.
Thanks Brandon for the cool pics and story. I have a bunch more photos after the jump, and be sure to check out Brandon’s ride page. Oh, and if this all seems vaguely familiar to loyal blog readers, last August Jen moved cross country with a 5×8 U-Haul, too.

How Much Does Your Car Leak?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Inspired by Jen, I got a drip pan to put under my leaky old Mopar–I figured my landlady wouldn’t be too thrilled if she ever waded into the Valdez-like disaster on the garage floor. Anyway, I found this Rothko-esque mix of Dexron-III and SAE 15W-40 after letting it sit for six weeks. How much does your car leak?

Barry White's Frankenstein Mopar on eBay
By Ron
aka WayTooFurious
Barry White from Wrecks to Riches fame built this sensational restomod GTX tribute. I am the first to admit that this body style never did it for me—however, with the Barry White treatment this is one car that I would be happy to have sitting in my drive. It cost $55k to build and sold for $75k on the show. It was listed on eBay earlier this week but failed to sell and has been relisted as a Buy It Now with a price of $89,000. Do you think it’s worth the asking price?

What Did You Do This Weekend?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
The weather in Seattle has been terrible for the last few months. Seems like every time I’ve had a moment to take the Mopar out it’s been raining. But yesterday I finally had an opportunity to take it for a cruise and clear out the cobwebs. Here’s a short video of its first start in two months (I’d actually cranked it a bit without giving it any gas to build up some oil pressure–that’s why it catches so fast). And anyone with an old Mopar will know what I’m doing with the shifter–working it through the gears before shifting into reverse. This fills the torque converter up to avoid the dreaded clunk. From there I backed it out of the garage and let it warm up for a few minutes. Pretty exciting, huh? So what did you do this weekend?
