Jet-Powered Scooter Races Lamborghini Gallardo
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Which is more crazy? A jet engine on the back of a scooter, or the fact that engine is held to the scooter by a wooden box? Racing a jet powered Vespa against a Lamborghini Gallardo, this has to be one of the craziest races of our time. Truth be told, the scooter does a pretty good job. Check out more jet powered anomalies at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Discourages Tailgaters
By Jen Dunnaway

James Bond fan Colin Furze invented a seat-mounted flame-thrower for his scooter when he got sick of being crowded by aggressive drivers. Nice idea, with a variety of possible automotive applications. Those flapping polyester coat-tails so close to an open flame make me a little nervous, though–I mean, how epic would it be if the guy set himself on fire? More at MailOnline, via VWVortex.

That's What He Gets: Scooter Crashes at Drags
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
As I’ve written before, I’m not a big fan of scooters. I’ve ridden one twice, and taking one of those under-powered machines out into traffic feels like wading into a shark tank carrying a bucket of chum. So I thought this clip was pretty hysterical. I mean, what do you think is going to happen when you take something as unstable as a scooter and try to drag it? And how long does this thing’s wheelie bar really have to be? It looks a little excessive…

Cheating Death: The Luckiest Man in Costa Rica!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
The quality of this clip is kind of crappy, but it’s easy to see exactly what happens here. Some dude—probably the luckiest in Costa Rica—is sitting on his scooter waiting to cross a street. Then a couple of cars behind him get tangled up. After that, one goes up on the median, collides with an oncoming car, and goes airborne. Miraculously, even though the dude straddling his scooter is just a couple of feet from this whirling mess of death, he appears completely unharmed. Can you imagine what goes through your head after something like that? After I changed my shorts, I’d probably go buy a lottery ticket.

Creativity
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
The Japanese LOVE their scooters. I’m not sure what to call this exactly, but the creativity reminds me of the JDM scooter scene. I saw this at Tokyo Auto Salon and I was impressed. Would I ever drive something like this? No. Never.
