What New Vehicle Would You Pick For a Cross-Country Road Trip?
By Rob Einaudi

Summer is here. Let’s say you have a month off to criss-cross the country in the new vehicle of your choice. The car is yours to use for free, you just have to pay for gas. And it has to be under $50k (so yes the base Vette just squeeks by). I’d go with the Challenger SRT-8. How about you?

Driving a Ferrari F430 to Queens
By Rob Einaudi

On Thursday morning Mike Musto picked me up at my hotel in New York City in a black Ferrari F430 he is helping to get ready for One Lap of America. We drove it across the 59th Street Bridge out to his place in Queens, then grabbed his Magnum SRT8 and drove back into Manhattan to attend the second media day at the New York Auto Show. Two mean black cars with burly V8s! More pics and video after the jump!

Dodge Challenger SRT8 vs. Chevy Camaro Hennessey HPE550 vs. Ford Shelby Mustang GT500
Chris Borrelli
Motor Trend has recently put the biggest of the big dogs head-to-head. MT put the Dodge Challenger SRT8, the Chevy Camaro Hennessey HPE550, and Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 in an all out comparo. You may remember a similar comparo back in March, but there was so much controversy with that one that MT did this one all out with the top level of all three vehicles.
Drum Roll please…………… Third place goes to the Dodge Challenger SRT8, second place goes to the Chevy Camaro Hennessey HPE550, and first place is the Ford Shelby Mustang GT500! Full article at Motor Trend

SVT Raptor Beats the Grand Cherokee SRT8 on CarDomain
By Rob Einaudi

Some people were pretty annoyed with me for this week’s Showroom Showdown. But hey, it’s all in good fun, right? The idea was to put two closely priced vehicles with no real competition up against each other. And the Raptor won, despite the fact that the CherokeeSRT8 forum got in on the act. Nice going Ford. Now Chevy and Dodge have to step up and give the Raptor some competition.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs. Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
By Rob Einaudi

Last week I was trying to figure out what to pit against the new Raptor. Seemed like there was nothing out there that really compared. Then I remembered that a month ago I was trying to figure out what to pit against the Grand Cherokee SRT8. Nothing seemed to compare to the burly Jeep, either. Well, now, let’s see… The Raptor starts at $38k and comes with a 5.4 liter V8 which puts out 320 hp and 390 lb.-ft. of torque (sadly, the 6.2 liter V8 won’t be available in the Raptor until the winter of 2010). The SRT8 starts at $43k and comes with a 6.1 liter Hemi that puts out 420 hp and 420 390 lb.-ft. of torque. Both are awesome vehicles that will scare your neighbors. Which would you choose?

So far I’ve driven most of the big guns in Chrysler’s SRT arsenal, but now they’ve surprised me with a little pocket rocket: The Caliber SRT-4. Check the blog early next week for a full review.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8: One Fast Box
By Mike Musto
RideLust.com
Through the years, I’ve driven all manner of Jeep. From the old 80′s Cherokee Chiefs and Wagoneers to the 90′s Sports and Wranglers to the new generation of Liberties and Patriots–I’ve put down a lot of miles in these things, and why not? They’re great vehicles. Hell, my brother has a 1999 Wrangler 5-speed with 152k on the clock and the thing has never missed a beat.
As you know, in the past few weeks I’ve sampled a few of Chrysler’s new hot rods like the Challenger R/T and SRT-8. So when they asked me if I would like to give the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 a try, there was no argument on my end. It rolled up to my driveway just as you see here–a big silver box with chrome wheels and a body kit. Hmmm, not really my cup of tea, but what the hell, it’s my job, so I grabbed the little key fob thingy and hit the road.
