Ken Block Falls on Hard Times. Forced to Sell Infamous Gymkhana STI
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
We found this thread on VW Vortex. Maybe Ken Block has not sufficiently wowed his new Ford partners enough as of yet. Perhaps the economic downturn has slowed the sale of DC Shoes and flat-brimmed hats. Maybe his upcoming gymkhana event series couldn’t find funding (uh, what we mean is, what gymkhana event series?).

Maybe this Craig’s List post is a joke. Maybe it was all just a dream. And maybe, just maybe, this seller is serious. Maybe he – yes, he, because there is no way a woman would do this to her car – is on drugs. Perhaps he’s on some medical grade nitrous, or meth, or maybe even something that we don’t know about. Maybe something that would require an ice cube up the butt. But then, Coyle is only one who would know anything about that.
All we have to say is that to be truly ironic this seller should have applied KB’s Subaru livery to a Ford Escort wagon. Get it? On second thought, it doesn’t get much more hi-lar-ious than the green underglow and hidden trailer hitch. That is, unless you were to release a remix of the original Gymkhana video, with machine guns and Sid and Marty Kroft explosive effects. Yes, that would rock us like a hurricane. Faulty Wing Causes 150 MPH Crash?
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
“You get what you pay for,” and when it comes to rear spoilers, disaster can strike if they’re not carefully engineered. Look at the chaos below that was caused by a faulty wing. Was a cheap spoiler responsible for this disaster, or just bad luck? Share your thoughts in the comments, and read more about spoiler engineering at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

An Education on Ice
By Ryan Douthit
Drivingsports.com
There’s been some debate on the “YouTubes” regarding my ability to handle a car on ice. Recently, Subaru gave me an opportunity to put these critics to rest by reviewing my techniques with a bona-fide expert in the field.
My mentor would be none other than John Haugland, an instructor at the Norwegian Winter Rally School in Norway, where he has had such star pupils as Petter Solberg and Richard Burns, among others. Our classroom would be a custom-built ice-racing circuit, along with a set of various Subaru Impreza models.
Now, keep in mind, the techniques we’re covering today are specifically for competitive driving only. You really shouldn’t be yanking the handbrake as you enter the local school driveway. Not cool. Continue reading after the jump!

2010 WRX STI Special Edition
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Subaru unveiled this car in LA, but this was my first look, and I thought it was pretty cool. For $2,000 less than the base price of a Subaru WRX STI, you get JDM STI spec C wheels and suspension. Of course Subaru had to cut somewhere, so you end up with halogen headlights instead of HIDs. Sound comes from a single-disc CD player with a 4-speaker system instead of the 6-CD and 10-speaker system in the standard WRX STI. Manual air conditioning replaces the automatic climate control, and side mirrors come sans integrated signals. This is a limited production vehicle, and the first 125 with only come in Aspen White. More pics after the jump!

Fantasy 2009 Forester: Full STI Swap!
By Ryan Douthit
Drivingsports.com
Subaru tuner PIA recently upgraded their shop 2009 Forester. The end result is downright evil… with room enough for the kids. We believe this is only one of two STI-swapped new-gen Foresters in North America. The other one being the Subaru XTI show car.

Spoiler Alert: Super Lap Battle Finals Results
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Source Interlink Media held its Super Lap Battle finals at Buttonwillow Raceway Park’s Race 13 clockwise configuration today. All of the ink and paper outlets should have the complete story in a few months but if you can’t wait here are the dirty deets as reported by our boys at Everything Time Attack. It looks like David Empringham took/ate/slathered with hot sauce the whole enchilada in the Sierra Sierra Evo VIII with a 1:45.061. This is not too close to the 1:43.523 overall record held by Nobuteru Taniguchi in the HKS CT230R Evo VIII but an impressive time nonetheless for a car that is very much still in development.
The Sierra Sierra Evo is a bit of an enigma in the time attack world, like someone who eats their waffles with syrup and no butter (now THAT’S messed up). This car is built to FIA GT3 specs in a field of cobbled together tuner cars. On another note, this 8 will be retired after this season, as Sierra Sierra is already hard at work on an Evo X with a Cosworth built 4B11. Hit the jump to see some more good times from Buttonwillow.

Varis x Runduce GRB Impreza Sti
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Another incredible collaboration between Original Runduce and Varis! Much like the Evo collaboration that I blogged about earlier, the two companies are finishing off their Subaru Impreza as well! Again the concept remains to use the Varis complete aero kit (already released) and then to produce a new front spoiler design penned by Original Runduce.
I’m excited to have a look at this and the Evo at Tokyo Auto Salon 2010! Hopefully it will be there!

STi's FT86
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
We all know that Toyota teamed up with Subaru on its latest FT86 concept Jeroen posted about last week, but it looks like the rumored Subaru STi version of the car may be the one to wait for. According to Autoblog, where I found this image, the STi version of the car might be ready for the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show and pack a 250 HP EJ25 along with a rear-wheel-drive layout. I wonder if a turbocharged 300+ HP STi AWD variant may be on the cards too?
