By Rob Einaudi

It takes a lot to shock me after working at CarDomain for four years, but this 1994 Camaro on eBay blew me away. Sadly the pics aren’t too big or too great, but I’ve got tons more after the jump!

Exceptionally Awesome Sleeper Nova on eBay

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

We love finding cool sleepers either for sale, or just looking good on the streets, waiting to swallow an unsuspecting victim. The granny blue 1969 Nova we found on eBay looks like something an elderly woman idled to church each week, but it actually sports a 540ci Dart big block Chevy, dressed with factory valve covers no less, that makes 725 pump gas horses.

The car has only lived with two owners and the first on had it repainted in 1984. From the photos we see on the ad, the paint has held up great over the last 26 years!

The interior is another place where the sleeper sales job is taken to perfection. Looking 100% stock, aside from some additional gauges hanging under the dash, this monster even sports the column shifter, which must make operating the full-manual valve bodied Turbo 400 fun.

This car was built by a professional shop and the quality of their work shows through and through. From the stealthy widened rear wheel wells, to the unassuming stance (aside from those pesky Cal Tracs poking out) the shop nailed it and we want to feel what 725hp feels like shoving us into that bench seat!

Even if you are a Ford guy, respect for this Nova is mandatory!

On eBay: Chevy Express Van, Russian Mobster Style

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

What does it take to get an Express Van to sell for $100K in Moscow? I’m not sure. But at that price, this KronKraft coach had better be bulletproof too. The interior is pretty cool though. Check out the auction on eBay!

Sammy’s Vehicle For Sale on Craigslist _ad Lib

By Sam Barer

Sound Classics

In an attempt to make it easier for non-car people to properly offer their vehicles for sale, two years ago I wrote an article called “Sammy’s Unofficial Template For Listing A Car Or Truck For Sale On Craigslist”. Judging by the sheer number of horribly-written ads I still see, obviously the topic needs to be covered yet again.

So today I’m trying something a little different. I’ll call it “Sammy’s Vehicle For Sale On Craigslist (or eBay, For That Matter) _ad Lib”.

Offered for sale is a (YEAR) (MAKE) (MODEL) (OFFICIAL BODY STYLE– that means SEDAN/COUPE/CONVERTIBLE/HARDTOP COUPE/WAGON/TOWN SEDAN, etc…) (OFFICIAL TRIM LEVEL DESIGNATION) with (NUMBER OF MILES). The vehicle is optioned with (OPTIONS AND OPTION PACKAGES).

(TYPE OF ENGINE — and NUMBER OF CYLINDERS/HORSEPOWER/OPTION CODE if multiple engines or multiple states of tune were offered) is (CHOOSE “ORIGINAL” OR “NOT ORIGINAL”) and runs (ADVERB). The (TYPE OF TRANSMISSION) shifts (ADVERB). Vehicle was last serviced (DATE), at which time the (LIST MAJOR SERVICES PERFORMED). Vehicle will need (TYPE OF MAINTENANCE) within the next (TIME PERIOD).

The (COLOR) paint is (ADJECTIVE). There are (ADJECTIVE RELATED TO QUANTITY) areas of (RUST/DAMAGE/DENTS/SCRATCHES) the size of (OBJECT) around the following areas: (LIST AREAS). The (FABRIC TYPE) interior is (COLOR) and is in (ADJECTIVE) condition, as exemplified by the (THING) on the (OBJECT).

Vehicle is offered at (PRICE) and is located at (LOCATION — CITY, STATE). Please feel free to ask questions by emailing (EMAIL ADDRESS) or calling (NAME) at (TELEPHONE NUMBER) between (HOURS).

The following pictures were taken (MONTH/YEAR): (INSERT FOUR PICTURES: FRONT 1/4, REAR 1/4, ENGINE, INTERIOR)

And just one last thing: at the very least, please spell check. If I see another “Camero Convertable” for sale today, I’m going to blow a gasket.

Lotus Esprit With Buick GNX Motor on eBay

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

So how do you guys feel about this? Good, bad, indifferent? From the auction:

The rumors are true! Someone did put a modified Buick Regal GNX motor in a Lotus Esprit and here it is! If you know anything about the 1987 Buick Regal GNX, then you just begin to understand what kind of power and reliability this exotic car has.

Start with a stock 3460 lb. 1987 Buick GNX with an automatic transmission running 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and the ¼ mile in 13.5 seconds (verified at howstuffworks.com) and delete everything but the motor. Then add many performance upgrades, a 5 speed upgraded manual transmission, and put it in a 2500 lb. exotic car (documented curb weight with the GNX motor). When you mash the accelerator, you either spill out uncontrollable expletives or think of the movie “Gladiator” just after Russell Crowe commands, “UNLEASH HELL”.

This is a low-mid 11-second ¼-mile rocket only limited by your level of fear and driving skill. Also thrilling is getting waves of admiration and thumbs up from other drivers. In addition to mind-blowing power and looks, another benefit of this car and its very light weight is the fuel-injected motor exceeds an average of 24 MPG when driven with respect. For the truly insane, only $1200 in modern performance Buick parts would add another 110 HP…

This car is a one of a kind work of art that absolutely embarrasses other Turbo Esprits from the period and costs substantially less to maintain. Everything works, right down to the clock, and not one component appears aged. Masterfully redone in 1987 and every detail both cosmetic and mechanical addressed, this vehicle is in exceptional condition.

The prior (original) owner spent over $75K in upgrades, with me adding more than $9K of my own. Professionally built and tuned by Buick racing legend Ken Duttweiler, the motor is stout to say the least. I have tons of receipts, the car’s registration was just renewed, and it is smogged and ready to go.

Top Five Reasons Why You Should Buy A Pace Car

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Wow. Looking around on eBay and discovering just how many pace cars are listed at any given time, it dawned on me that now is a perfect time to snap one up. Televised motorsports is in its heyday in America, and these cars are a dime a dozen–in most cases, no seller can claim that they’re rare, or that you should have to pay a lot of money to get one. So, in browsing the mind-blowing selection of pace cars on eBay, while trying to talk yourself out of placing a bid, do remind yourself of exactly why you should be buying one.

1. Racing history without the race car. Of course it would be out-of-this-world cool to own the Monte Carlo that Earnhardt drove to his first championship. Historic race cars are great, but not only do they command astronomical prices, they’re generally not practical (or legal) to drive on the street. With a pace car, you can get a vehicle that’s participated in a small but important way in racing history, but without the gallons-per-mile fuel consumption, the squirrely dry-rotted race slicks, or the prosecutable-in-50-states exhaust noise. You get to actually enjoy it.

Hit the jump for four more reasons to pull the trigger.

Hand-Carved Hearse on eBay

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Hearses, of course, started out as ornate horse-drawn carriages, and their coachwork-inspired design continued on well into the automotive age. Check out this flathead-six powered 1921 S & S hearse on eBay–not quite as over-the-top as later hearse caricatures like Carthedral, but not a bad rig for your final ride.

Buddy Baker’s Race-Winning Daytona on eBay

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

It seems there’s been a crop of famous race cars on eBay lately, but the Dodge Daytona raced by NASCAR legend Buddy Baker back in the day stands out from all the overpriced never-rans and should’ve-beens that have been popping up recently. This Daytona was the car that Baker drove to victory in the 1970 Southern 500, the very race we’re going to be watching this Saturday night at Darlington Raceway. The seller says it’s been cleaned and detailed, but not restored, and that “it is just as it was last raced in 1970.” The following year, NASCAR outlawed the big hemi, and Mopar entries would’ve been running 305′s. Looks like this Number 6 got out of the game just in time. Check out the auction on eBay!
