Carnage Video: Four Minutes of Jumping Muscle Cars

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Many BangShifters are totally against wrecking perfectly good old cars in the name of movie action, but we figure that as long as the cars were already wrecked 20-plus years ago, we might as well get some thrills out of it now. This video is packed with nothing but muscle cars (and one Fast and Furious car) jumping rivers, trucks, and other cars in movies and TV shows like Dukes of Hazzard, Smokey and the Bandit, Starsky and Hutch, and more. We recommend you turn off the audio and supply your own soundtrack. We mean, unless you’re a Starship fan.

Bike Shows How to Stick a Landing!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

In case you were curious, doing a stoppie is kind of sketch. The only time I got the back wheel off the ground on my old Suzuki, I wound up doing a total face plant. So when I saw the the brutal angle this rider gets into, I knew this was going to be a nasty bail. And while this stunt doesn’t really play out for him, you have to admit that his bike really sticks the landing. Nice work, bike!

Mind the Gap: Burly Canal Jump!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Ok, there’s “go big or go home,” and then there’s Jeff Siefert’s 160-foot jump over the Glamis Canal. Does this guy have some stones or what? I mean, if he were to screw up and nail the concrete berm, he’d have been killed. The video replays this epic jump three times, but only the middle one is at full speed. Enjoy.

Ghost-Riding While Doing Donuts?

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Watching this car turn donuts with no one behind the wheel was really making me cringe. For a couple of seconds, it looks like the driver might not be able to get back in the car, but fortunately, after a couple of attempts, he’s able to do it.  Yikes.

Up On Two Wheels in Qatar!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I also didn’t even blog this because I thought the branding of the video was so completely obnoxious, but after watching it a couple of times, I couldn’t resist. Personally, I think the coolest part is how these crazy dudes use the little loop at the beginning to get the car up, but watching the two passengers hang out the windows makes me cringe. On wrong move from the driver, and both of those guys are history. Obviously, don’t try this at home.

Robbie Maddison Back Flips London's Tower Bridge

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

If you’ve ever been stuck at a drawbridge—like the super-irritating one right in front of CarDomain HQ—you’ve thought about jumping across. But it takes a bad-ass individual to actually give it a go, and Robbie Maddison is just that type of individual. London’s iconic London Bridge is obviously a sweet target for such a stunt, and while the gap here isn’t all that wide, the combination of back flip, burly incline and heavy railing presence make this maneuver look pretty sketch. Yikes.

Changing a Tire During a Wheelie? What?

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

When you have a fast sport bike—and let’s face it, they’re all fast—getting the front end to come up isn’t particularly difficult. And it’s even easier if you’ve got a passenger clinging on for dear life. But changing a tire while the bike is up? That’s completely crazy, even with a chase truck and an obviously experienced tech turning the wrench. The shots of this rider ripping along with no front wheel just blew me away. Don’t try this at home, or at the track, or with professional supervision or anywhere. Jeepers!

Hot Wheels for Real: Fifth Gear Gets All Loopy!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Personally, I didn’t think there was anything terribly complicated about running a car through a Hot Wheels-style loop. Shows what I know. Apparently, getting the speed right is absolutely crucial, because not only could the car fall off, but coming in too hot could produce g-forces which could kill the driver. Making this even more difficult? This is the biggest loop ever attempted. So the guys from Fifth Gear—with the help of a physicist from Cambridge—planned the operation down to the last detail. Does stuntman Steve Truglia pull it off? Watch and see!
