By Rob Einaudi

Most of these vehicles should never have disappeared in the first place, but all of them need to come back. Now. Let me know what you think of my list. What did I miss?

Ford Bronco

I really don’t know what Ford is waiting for. Seems like a no brainer to me.

See the rest after the jump!

Top Ten Ride Pages of 2009

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

So this is the fourth year I’ve done this. Not an easy task with over 700,000 rides!

Ratiki has the coolest headliner on CarDomain!

This Dodge Polara has a great story.

The ISMA Challenger kicked butt at this year’s Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge.

Vance built one crazy Fox body!

Eighty 1 Design’s Nova is amazing.

Casey’s Willys restomod is too cool!

Afrim’s MR2 is nuts!

Henry’s Shelby GT350 is beautiful!

Robert has done a great job with his $300 Civic!

And finally, the Veilside Fortune RX7 is a an awesome work in progress!

Of course, this is just a snapshot of the site as a whole, and obviously I missed a ton of cool stuff. Check out my lists from 2006, 2007 and 2008 and then post some of your favorites below!

Top Stories of 2009

By Rob Einaudi

For many of us 2009 will go down as a year to forget. But there were a few bright spots, right? Anyway, here’s my list of the top stories of 2009. Let me know what you think, and what I missed.

Cash for Clunkers - This was probably the hottest topic this year. Was it a success? Some say yes, some say no

Bailout and Bankruptcy - GM and Chrysler take taxpayer dollars, then file for bankruptcy. Are we out of the woods yet?

GM Kills Brands – First Pontiac, then Saturn, now Saab?

Chrysler Goes to Fiat – I still don’t know what to think of this one. I guess all we can do is wait and see…

Ford Kicks Ass – It was good to see Ford hang tough this year. No bankruptcy, no bailout money, just a solid product lineup. The Fusion won a ton of accolades, the new Taurus appears to be a success, and the Fiesta looks like the winner. And don’t forget about the Mustang. Now we just need a new Focus.

Pony Cars Wars Get HotterThe Challenger looks best, the Camaro is the fastest, but I think the Mustang is the most fun to drive. And Ford has really upped the ante with the 5.0.

RWD Toyota/Subaru is a go – Hey, Detroit can’t hog all the headlines. The new FT-86 looks great and hopes are high for the Subie version.

The Fast and the FuriousStill stupid, and still a lot of fun.

Green – Ok, so green technology may have been drowned out by some of the drama this year, but that doesn’t mean it’s slowing down. The third gen Prius is a huge success, Tesla might actually be a real company, and the Nissan Leaf looks very promising. Oh, and do you remember the Chevy Volt?

Media Mayhem – First Riceboy went to StreetFire. Then CarDomain merged with StreetFire. Freiburger went back to Hot Rod. Motive shut down and then Alterman went to Car and Driver. Sounce Interlink filed chapter 11 and fired a bunch of people. What’s next?

Top Ten Stories of 2008

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Yesterday I selected some of my favorite blog posts from this year. Today I’m going to focus on the big stories of 2008. So here goes…

1. Big Three Meltdown. This whole Detroit situation has been pretty ugly. Katherine was trying to keep a cool head, but it wasn’t easy. The bailout happened, but will it make a difference?

2. Tuners in Trouble. First Nopi got cancelled, then GReddy went bankrupt. SEMA was pretty quiet for the tuner crowd as well. Will 2009 be any better?

3. Nissan GT-R. The GT-R was hot this year. First there was the dealer price gouging. Then the whole Porsche rivalry was big news. And then came the stories of the electronic nannies and voided warranties.

4. Dodge Challenger. The Challenger helped bring back the pony car wars, and it was probably the hottest car at SEMA this year. We got a R/T for a week and loved it. Will it be able to stand up to the Camaro next year?

5. Fast and Furious IV. Jen did some great coverage of the upcoming Fast and Furious movie, and you guys couldn’t get enough of it. Some CarDomain members even got their cars into the film!

6. Gas Prices. First prices went up. Way up. Then they went down. Way down. What the hell is going on here, anyway?

7. Electric Cars. Tesla sure had its ups and downs this year. But we drove a validation prototype and came away impressed. Then of course there’s the Chevy Volt. But is it gonna happen? And don’t forget the electric 911 and Duster!

8. Nick Hogan is an Idiot. Not much else to say here. He’s loose again

9. Death of Legends. Phil Hill and Paul Newman both passed away this year. And they will be missed.

10. Ken Block is Still Insane. The guy jumped his Subaru 170 feet at the end of 2007. So this year he upped the ante by doing a bunch of crazy stunts with his pal Travis Pastrana. And then last month he released this wild drift video. What does he have planned for 2009???

So let me know what you think of my list. Did I miss any big stories for 2008?

Top 10 Future Collector Cars?

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

The folks at Hagerty just released their list of the Top 10 Future Collector Cars. This is a bit different than the list they threw together last year in that, for the most part, these are higher end cars, and there is more attention paid to specific trim levels.

Cadillac XLR-V Roadster
Lotus Exige S
Audi S5
Mustang Shelby GT 500 KR
Chevrolet Corvette Z06
Smart
Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Honda S2000 CR
Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky
Dodge Charger Super Bee

I think it’s a decent list, but I would have put the Viper ACR and R32 on there and probably left off the Audi (will their electronics make it 25 years?) and WRX STI (considered fugly by just about everyone). I also think the Solstice/Sky would have to to be the GXP/Red Line editions. You can read the full press release after the jump. What do you think of the list?
