Trans Am Clutch Explodes!
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Fire in the hole! A modified Trans Am explodes its clutch in such a manner, it nearly amputated several appendages with its grenade-like fury. Attempting a rolling power brake burnout, the Trans Am produced too much power for the clutch to handle, resulting in a total loss. Read more about the Trans Am clutch exploding at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Another 2010 Camaro Trans Am Conversion
By Jen Dunnaway

I really dig the period-correct wheels, though I think the nose is a little gnarly. And the hood scoop doesn’t leave much room for the giant screaming firechicken that’d be necessary to complete this look. I think I like the Lingenfelter Trans Am better. How about you? See more angles below the jump.

Lingenfelter 455 Trans-Am Concept to Debut at SEMA
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Last year at SEMA there were a bunch of Challengers dressed up as ‘Cudas. So it shouldn’t be too surprising to see some Camaros dressed up as Firebirds this year. This 455 Trans-Am concept from Lingenfelter looks pretty cool. I’m looking forward to seeing it next week! A few more pics after the jump, and you can learn more about this car at Car and Driver

1970 Mustang Boss 302 Trans Am and Ford 8000 COE Transporter
Automotive Traveler
What makes the weekly Cars and Coffee gathering at Ford’s Western Regional Headquarters such a great event is that every week is a surprise; today was no exception. Whether it’s seeing Lamborghini’s latest parked next to a vintage Ford pickup, or this week, more than two dozen Boss Mustangs commemorating the 45th birthday of America’s most popular Pony Car, nothing can quite beat this combination: a period-correct recreation of a Bud Moore Ford Race transporter with a tribute to Parnelli Jones’ 1970 Trans-Am championship-winning 1970 Boss 302 Mustang on top. SCCA Trans-Am Action Circa 1970
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
We’ve done the Can-Am thing so we thought we should do the Trans-Am thing in this week’s featured video item. We’re taking you back to SCCA 1970 and some footage from what seems to be an overview of the entire season, a recap if you will.
1970 is usually held as the best year for the Trans-Am series as it is the point when manufacturer spending peaked and most teams were rife with cash and innovative ideas. It also marks the entrance of AMC and its Javelin entry. We have a soft spot for those boys now.
If you are the impatient type, skip right to 1:21 in the video to see and hear the racing fury. If you are not, enjoy a complete walk down memory lane.

Ouch: Sold For An In-Ground Pool
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
Mike’s ’79 Trans Am ride page is pretty straightforward. Just a few photos, the last of which depicts a small backyard pool that he financed with the proceeds from the sale of this gorgeous car. Wha…? Yeah, I’m not one to tell anybody how to spend their money–lord knows I’ve bought a lot of dumb, frivolous stuff–and if what he really wants is an in-ground pool, more power to him. But I can’t suppress the nagging feeling that, a ways down the road, Mike’s going to end up missing that hot ride (with the Year One 8.8 L??) more than he’s enjoying that hole in the ground. I know the situation isn’t exactly comparable, but I’m reminded of someone I know who once sold a ’75 Firebird in part to pay off someone else’s medical bills. He has rued the day ever since, and still keeps pictures of the car around to pine over. How about you? Ever sold a car to pay for something, then regretted it?
