Extreme Unimog!

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

We love the Unimog. They remind me of Sloth from the Goonies or an English Bulldog, so ugly they’re cute. The Unimog is to the Europeans as the H1 Hummer is to us Yanks. Watch as this badass Unimog take on the rocks at Moab!

Perfect For Your Next Post-Apocalyptic Vacation

By Jen Dunnaway

I love the Unimog in any form, but I think this zombie-crushing camper version is the way to go if what you really want is to cruise the ruins of civilization in style. It’s on eBay now! Via Ridelust.

Extreme Unimog vs Wall

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

On Friday, I posted a clip of a Hummer climbing a wall, and while I was impressed, this caged Unimog puts that performance to shame. Obviously, the wheels are bigger and everything, but damn, the big-ass Benz makes short work of this obstacle…

NorthWest MogFest 2009

By David Belau

dartslantsix

I still haven’t made it to NorthWest MogFest. Thankfully, my friends went again this year to prove how lame I am.

Mogfest started out as a gathering for Unimog owners to hang out and drive their machines. It’s grown into a gathering for all European off-road machines.

I’ll try to go next year and prove my manhood. Until then, enjoy the pictures my friends sent to me. (Special thanks to Doug, Luke, Art, Andy, Pete and the rest of the clan.)

Vintage Tow Trucks from OkTOWberfest

By Jim Brennan

UDMan

As many of you may (or may not) know, my position as a district representative for an import truck distributor allows time to take in events that I normally would not attend otherwise. This is one such event, and it happened during the second weekend of October. The one thing I remember most was how cold the air was, as this was the first weekend that the thermometer dipped below the freezing mark this year. Anyway, I have several dealers in Massachusetts that display finished versions of UD Trucks set up for towing and recovery, and this is the reason why I was there.

The Massachusetts Statewide Towing Association wanted to put together a show that brought out most of the tow operators within Western Massachusetts, along with vintage tow trucks, and demonstrations.  Below are some of the vintage trucks that were in attendance, including a 1955 Chevy, several Fords, and a fully functioning Model T.

Contine reading after the jump.

Burly Unimog in Fremont

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I see this Unimog pretty much every day and this morning I finally stopped to snap some pics. The morning sun and gold SUV didn’t really help much, but you can probably still tell just how freakin’ cool this thing is. Between the license plate and all the German writing and crests and such I’m assuming it was a fire truck in a small German town at some point. Anyone know? I’d ask Ralf but he’s on vacation. I really dig the roll-up doors. More pics after the jump.

The Odd Couple

By Jen

CarDomain member Roadkill150 seems to be economizing: though he owns two awesome and pretty pricey vehicles, he’s shacked them up together in a single ride page. His Viper looks pretty badass, but I think the amazing shots of his ultra-burly rock-crawling Unimog are what really make the page, and the pic of the vehicles side by side is truly priceless. However, each of these fantastic rides definitely deserves to have its very own home on the site, and now that we’ve added the Mercedes-Benz Unimog to our vehicle database, it shouldn’t be a problem. Come on Roadkill, just because you live in California doesn’t mean you can’t spread out a little!

Match made in heaven?
