ViperVette
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Knowing how serious Viper owners and Corvette owners get when challenging each other to the title of Ultimate American Sports Car Ever, I probably shouldn’t step right into the middle of it by highlighting this Viper-bodied 1986 Corvette for sale on Hemmings.com. But I’m a sucker for punishment, so here it is. I can imagine the taunts from either side now: “The only way to make a Corvette look good is to rebody it as a Viper!” “The only way to make a Viper run good is to power it with a Corvette engine!” From the seller’s description:
This is a combination 1986 Corvette frame, engine and dash, combined with a 2000 Dodge Viper body. Thus, a VIPERVETTE. The engine is 5.7 liter with a 4 speed manual transmission. The exterior is all Viper and the interior, although color coded Dodge Viper red and black leather, it has Corvette seats and interior. Options on this car include P/S, P/B, P/W, Power Mirrors, Power Antenna, Power Seats, Tilt Wheel, Top Off Feature, Power Trunk and AM/FM stereo with CD changer mounted in the trunk.

The Last Dodge Viper
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
It’s been a great twenty years, but all good things must come to an end. Like by the hands of the swift mongoose, this super snake has been eliminated from the automotive scene. Rolling off the line to a Viper owner who is going to own fifty of them by the end of the year, it’s safe to say the end of an American masterpiece is going to a responsible owner. Ten Coolest Car Hoods: Mopar FTW!
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
This week Jalopnik asked their audience “what’s the coolest car hood?” and then followed up with a top ten list. Mopar scored three of the ten spots, with the Shaker hood, the Viper hood and the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Air Grabber hood below. And that didn’t even include the 69.5 lift off hood in their original post.
So what’s your favorite car hood?

Dodge Spreading Voodoo Magic…10 Cylinders At A Time
By Mike Musto
RideLust.com
Sometimes the automotive world dishes out stories that just make you smile. Maybe you still own your first car, or perhaps you own a car that has been handed down through the generations. Or maybe it’s something as simple as the car you own just makes your 6-year old nephew smile. In the end it really doesn’t matter what the story is as long as something positive comes of it. Yesterday I got a call from my buddy Scott, he is an independent contractor who has been working exclusively for Chrysler as a product specialist on the auto show/specialty event circuit for four years and in his travels he gets to see some pretty cool stuff. So when he contacted me about a story he wrote about a first time car buyer, I just had to listen. He went on to tell me about a gentleman by the name of David Williams who decided to plunk down some of his hard earned greenbacks on his first new vehicle. What was that vehicle you might ask? How about a limited edition 2010 Dodge Viper ACR Voodoo Edition… not too shabby right?

Sneak Peak: Samuel Hubinette’s 2010 Dodge Challenger Drift Car
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
You are looking at a shot of a 2010 Formula Drift car that almost didn’t happen. Samuel Hubinette, a two-time Formula Drift Champion who finished fourth in points last year had a trying 2009 season to say the least. First was the rather untimely bankruptcy of Chrysler that left his Nuformz Mopar/BFGoodrich team without sponsorship for the majority of last season followed by the tragic death of his team owner, Shaun Carlson just before last year’s FD finals.
But Samuel picked himself up and dusted off the tire bits and is preparing to come back with this 2010 Dodge Challenger that will include sponsorship from his longtime supporters Dodge and BFGoodrich. Samuel will also campaign the car under his newly formed eponymous Samuel Hubinette Racing team. But Samuel won‘t be the only driver on Team SHR as veteran rally ace Andrew Comrie-Picard will drive the team’s iconic Dodge Viper SRT-10. Hit the jump to see more pictures and a rough video of this car, which is very much still a work in progress.

Horror Movie: Dodge Viper Loses Its Brakes While Going Full Bore on a Road Course
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
We’d list brake failure as the top thing on our list of horrifying automotive possibilities. This video is the perfect example of how a multitude of things can stack up on you in a perfect storm of awful. Take a big horsepower Dodge Viper that is hauling ass down a straightaway and send it into a very hard left hand turn with no brakes. The result is stunning.
We think that this driver is at a school of some sort as there is a passenger who appears to have a helmet wired to communicate with the driver. He makes a feeble attempt at grabbing the gearshift or the hand brake at one point, but the big Viper just bulldozes it way off the track at an extremely high rate of speed and hurdles toward a wall. The impact is beyond huge and the in-car shot makes us pucker every time we see it.
