VWVortex Forced to Migrate to VBulletin

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

It’s no secret that a ton of great blog stories come straight from the Car Lounge over at VWVortex, one of the biggest auto enthusiast forums out there. Well, many of you have probably noticed by now that the site is down due to a dispute over the forum software that was powering the site. The guys at VWVortex are working around the clock to migrate to VBullitin. Anyone who has experienced a software migration with their automotive forum of choice knows that this is a painful process even under the best of circumstances. Although they don’t seem to be pointing to it yet, you can find the new Car Lounge here. Good luck guys, and here’s to a speedy recovery!

“Because I Was High”

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

At least the builder wasn’t so high that he neglected to add a second bumper at street-legal height. It’d be a shame if this jacked-up ride wasn’t streetable, because you know it’s going to be great for getting pedestrians out of the way in hurry. Via the “Because I was high” thread on VWVortex. More pics below the jump!

Let’s See Some Sidewall!

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Is this a new trend? Of course the old school domestic guys like me have always liked the look of a beefy sidewall. But could it be catching on with the tuner crowd, too? After all, those big wheels with low profile tires cost big $$$. Ryan hates this look but I love it. What do you think? More pics after the jump! See the whole thread at VWVortex

Start the Insanity: Totally Sick Widebody Exige

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Wow. This Exige is sporting a supercharger and a turbo charger, and it’s apparently making 500HP. Oh, and it tips the scales at a scant 2150lbs with full fuel and driver. Just wow. There are pics after the jump, but you have to watch this video. The engine note makes Beethoven sound like a toddler banging on pots and pans. via VWVortex

At First I Was Like…

By Katherine Helmetag

Atomicalex

It took me a minute to get the funny in this captioned pic from VWVortex member VWWestlife. Then I LOL’d. How can you possibly not anthropomorphize these two all-too-expressive Mazda faces? The wrinkled up nose on the 3 on the left cracks me up. Add some white paint to the grille bar on the right, and you don’t even need Disney!
