E90
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The E90 3-series arrived in 2006. We have over 200 on our site, but most of them haven’t been modded extensively yet. Jose already traded the 328i below for a 335i. Brandon’s car looks sharp with 19" Matte black CSL wheels. Marisel added Axis Wheels and a Fujita intake. Meli is planning to add a Louis Vuitton interior. Eric and Eugene both have great looking red interiors.
So that’s it for this installment of Whip of the Week. Jen is promising to do the Buick Riviera in the very near future, so stay tuned.

E46

The E46 3-series arrived in 1999. Scar’s Bimmer has a Racing Dynamic Tornado Body Kit. Hamman’s widebody was photographed by CarDomain at HIN Boston. Michael installed a custom sub enclosure in his 325i. Dave wrecked his car but now it’s fixed. And my buddy Mon-Chaio has a very sweet 325xi.
The E46 M3 was introduced in 2001. Jesse and Simon both have beautiful Laguna Seca M3s. James’s M3 has been featured in a ton of magazines. Alex’s M3 has dropped almost 200 pounds. Curtis’s car (below) was the top rated M3 on CarDomain at the time that I wrote this.
Stay tuned! Tomorrow we finish up with the E90.

E36

The E36 3-series arrived as a 1992 model. The new car was bigger: the overall length stretched four inches and the wheelbase stretched five inches. Rich has a beautiful Montreal Metalic Blue vert. Nathan got his E36 out of junkyard. Josh bagged his car. Jean has a great looking Ti. This 3-series is Nasa GTS3/SCCA D prepared. Dee did a tranny swap and supercharged his 3.2. And Michael set up his 325is for autocross and got Mario Andretti to sign his dash.
The E36 M3 came to the US in 1995. Alan bought his M3 from Grassroots Motorsports. Stance36′s M3 (below) has been tastefully modded. And Luke is a member of Team Eurowerkz.
Stay tuned! Tomorrow we look at tht E46.

E30
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The first E30 arrived in the US as a 1984 model, and for the first time the 3-series was available as a four door and with an inline six. Jeff’s 325is will be competing in this year’s $2007 Challenge. Dan and I got rides in this spec E30 at VIR. Matt sold his 325i (shown parked behind his buddy’s M3 below) last year. This rare 325iX has a Megasquirt engine management system. Michael’s 325is sat in the weeds for two years before he rescued it. Baden has a beautiful right hand drive E30. Travis has been working hard on his 325e. Christopher’s beautiful 325i was totaled in 2003. And Ben’s car has turbo power.
The E30 M3 finally came to the US in 1988. Will’s M3 is stunning. My buddy Young has the cleanest M3 you’ll ever see. Brian’s M3 is stroked and is putting out 275 hp. Pat added Motorsport stripes and a turbo to his M3.
Stay tuned. Tomorrow we look at the E36.

Whip of the Week: BMW 3-series
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The BMW 3-series replaced the 2002 in 1975, and the first generation car, the E21, was build until 1983. Of course, we have a ton of cool E21s on our site. CJ’s car (below) is beautiful, and he sure knows how to take a photo. Ty’s car is a record holder at Portland International Raceway. Jonathan established a baseline hp on the dyno before he started in on the mods. Ronaldo has all sorts of cool photos on his ride page. Sadly, Nick sold his cool little road racer with a 2.8 i-6. Federico in Uruguay has been ripping his car apart. Adrian has a rare convertible. It’s not often that you see a 3-series with hydraulics or one that looks like this. Stay tuned. Tomorrow I’ll look at the E30.

Whip of the Week: 350Z
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
After a three year absence, the Z returned in 2003 to great acclaim. Richard’s page is closing in on half a million hits. Tad is stationed in Germany and cruises his Z on the Autobahn. Nothing has been left untouched on Gina’s Z (below). Traland’s car is very wide and very orange. Rob’s car was the top rated 350Z when I wrote this post. Ryan has been steadily improving his 04 Track Edition. This Z was Fine Tuned. Tolga-Onur’s car won SOTW last year. This roadster got Lambo doors. And Juan’s car underwent an AWD conversion.
So that’s it for this week’s WOTW. What should we do next? And who wants to write the next one?

Whip of the Week: Fourth Gen Z
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The Z was totally redesigned for 1990 and returned to its sports car roots. Jessica’s Z (below) has been featured in Modified and DownShift Magzine. Ken’s car looks amazing in silver with Volk wheels and Kevin’s car looks great in black with Ruff Racing wheels. Jerry’s car won SOTW back in 2004. This body style definitely lends itself to two-tone paint. Of course the guys at TRIAL have a nice Z. Nick’s Z looks tough with a widebody kit. I saw the SPL car at the GRM UTC Challenge. Russel has a sweet vert. And Jamie’s car looks great in tangerine orange.

Whip of the Week: 300ZX
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The Nissan 300ZX was introduced in 1984. Mario’s car (pictured below) sports House of Kolor kandy apple red paint and a Kaminari body kit with AE flares. Zbum and Masood both have nice Nissan 50th anniversary editon cars. I really dig this Aussie right hand drive 200ZR. Zac’s car was pretty sweet until he drifted into a pole. Tyler’s car looks great in red and Stevens car looks amazing in gunmetal. Kevin did a motor swap and got his black Z featured in Sport Z Magazine. Aaron’s 84 got t-boned so he’s been swapping everything over to a pristine 85. And Jason did a RB25 swap and installed some Mustang Bullitt wheels. Tomorrow we’ll look at the fourth generation cars, so stay tuned.

Whip of the Week: 280ZX
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
The Z car got a major overhaul for 1979 and was renamed the 280ZX. Curtis has a rare 1979 ZRX. You’ll either love or hate Vihn’s spyder conversion. Corpcrim has lots of artsy shots of his 1980 280ZX (below). A tenth anniversary edition was available in 1980, with gold wheels and two tone paint, which you can see on Jameson’s car. 1980 was also the first year for t-top, and Bryan has a great example of a car with that option. Phil, Tommy and Bleach all have turbo 280ZXs, which first came out in 1981. And Juan’s car doesn’t seem to know whether it wants to be a Ferrari or a Superbird. Tomorrow we’ll look at the third gen cars, so stay tuned.

Whip of the Week: Z Car
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
My favorite Japanese car of all time is the Z Car. When Datsun first launched the 240Z in late 1969 as a 1970 model they had a massive hit in their hands. Like most successful cars, the Z would get increasingly heavy, complex and expensive as the years wore on. But the start was awesome, and finding nice examples of first gen Z car on our site is like shooting fish in a barrel. Just check out production number 2868 below. Blueovalz has a crazy fiberglass body and is Ford powered. I dig the color combo on Dave’s Z, though I still think orange is the best color on early Zs (of course primer is cool, too).
The engine size got bumped up to 2.6 liters in 1974, and the car was renamed the 260Z. I like Scott’s car a lot. And Nate’s turbocharhed Z looks pretty tough with the big fat cowl. Engine displacement went up again in 1975, and the car was renamed the 280Z. Scott restored his 280Z from the ground up. And of course Tom’s 280Z, which I saw at the GRM UTC Challenge, is amazing.
Tomorrow we’ll look at the 280ZX (S130) so stay tuned.
