The Slow Inevitable Death of American Muscle

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

I’d been consciously ignoring the attention-seeking “artist” who rigged up a machine to crush a series of perfectly decent muscle cars into each other last year, but I finally noticed a video of the destruction when it turned up on Streetfire. This member’s comment on the video much sums up my feelings on the issue: “I’d like to see a mushroom cloud in place of that museum.” What an idiotic waste.

Sad Vintage Racing Wreck

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

Watch this original steel-bodied classic Camaro bite the dust during a Trans Am race. Initially, it just looks to be going for a bit of a grass ride. But then, bam: it hits the wall, and things get ugly from there. I don’t really think that’ll buff out.

Brake Failure Sends Rally Car Spectator Bowling

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Amazingly, no one was hurt in this video, but man they came close! Apparently the car in this video suffered a brake failure of some kind, causing it to overcook the corner and head right toward a truck ringed with spectators. They all jumped out of the way, some flopping down what seems to be a grassy hill. This is another example of just how risky some of the viewing areas on a rally course can be.

Pay close attention to the driver and how he manages to spin the car around just before certain impact with the truck. He probably did it to save the car, but it may have bought some of these spectators the millisecond they needed to get the hell out of the way!

In Car Footage of a Dragster Rolling Over at Speed

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

The advent of the affordable on-board camera has made the wonder of in-car video a rather normal thing these days. Footage of cars crashing from the inside out never gets old in our book. We were tipped off to this video while cruising YellowBullet.com and were pretty blown away by it. Nothing like seeing someone go for the ride of their lives in HD!

This dragster is powered by a turbocharged EcoTec engine. We have a feeling that it may be the former digger of Don Nase, which was a six second capable machine. This one has plenty of snot and unfortunately for the driver, had a mind of it’s own on this run.

The real action starts around the 3:00 mark.

Saudi Drifter Crashes Into Semi

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Look at that tire fly at 0:10! Performing the dangerous Saudi drift driving technique on the interstate, this drifter took the corner a little too sharp and ended up clipping the trailer of the semi. The rest of the drifting world better watch out for SA because these guys have no fear. Read more about Saudi drifting at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

Kasey Kahne Rides The Wall On Two Wheels at Bristol!

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

For those of you who missed the NASCAR Nationwide race this weekend, Kasey Kahne was forced into the wall and rode along the curve on 2 wheels before finally landing right side up and then sliding to the bottom of the track. Not exactly a sight you see too often so check it out!

8 Dead, 12 Injured in California 200

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

I can’t even believe how horrible this is: an off-road truck rolled over and plunged into a crowd of spectators at the dry lakes of Lucerne Valley, CA, this weekend, and a too-close crowd of spectators camped out at the course’s treacherous “rockpile” paid the ultimate price. The driver was uninjured, but spectators–who by some estimates were within four feet of the hot track, with trucks racing by at 45-50 mph–did not fare as well after the Misery Motorsports truck went out of control after getting airborne, rolled over, and landed on its roof. Four bodies were found trapped beneath the truck once it was righted, and people had their kids out running around by this dangerous stretch of track–one victim was seen shoving children out of the truck’s path before he was crushed. A Bad Motorcyclist Pays the Price

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Riding a motorcycle is a dangerous enough enterprise when you are talented at it and generally know what you are doing. It becomes a painful experience when you are an idiot, like the man shown in this wild video. This may be the first time that someone involved in a rear end style accident can use the video proof to show that it wasn’t their fault.

What in the hell was the guy in the bike thinking?!
