Time-Lapse Corvette LS9 Build

By Chris Bicknell

Bick66

Every Corvette ZO6 LS7 and ZR1 LS9 engine is hand built by skilled tradesmen at the GM Powertrain facility in Wixom, Michigan. GM is now offering ZR1 and ZO6 customers the option of actually building their new high performance engine themselves before it’s installed in their very own new Corvette. Watch below as a 638 horsepower 6.2L super-charged LS9 Corvette ZR1 engine is assembled. I’d love to have an opportunity like this someday. How cool it would be to build your own badass LS motor in the Wixom plant and then later watch it get installed into your new Corvette on the assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky?

Jan Magnussen Beats the Hell Out of a New ZR1 Corvette at The ‘Ring

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

In the past we’ve shared our opinions on the Nurburgring as an odd marketing tool for domestic auto companies, but that’s not to say we don’t respect and recognize the fact that the track itself is insane. BangShift.com forum member Mr4Speed tipped us to an awesome video of Corvette racer Jan Mannussen beating the daylights out of a ZR1 around the “Green Hell.”

This video is addicting. We’ve watched it like ten times. The sound alone is worth the pice of admission but watching Magnussen do his thing behind the wheel, and looking as relaxed as a grandmother driving to church, is what really keeps us glued to the screen.

Note the guy who looks back at the camera at the start of the run. He’s apparently sans helmet. Hopefully he’s wearing an adult diaper because we know we would have whizzed our pants riding shotgun on this blast!

World's First LS9 Powered 2010 Camaro SS

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

This is the first shot of the Hennessey’s new baby running, and damn, does it sound mean. Sure, the open headers have something to do with it, but still, damn. I have to wonder how wicked it sounds in person. But while I think the idea of dropping the ZR1′s powerplant into a new Camaro is cool—and I think the guys at Hennessey are wizards—the $109K price tag does give me pause. Seriously, if we’re talking that kind of money, I’d rather have the Corvette. Because while a 705HP Camaro is going to be fast as hell, in my opinion the ZR1 looks cooler, and it’ll definitely get around the track faster. Which would you guys choose?

Corvette ZR1: You've hit the MOTHER LODE!

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

I’m not going to lie: sometimes being me has some distinct advantages, as I am one of the few people that gets to do what they really love–I get to play with cars. Case in point–last week I received a phone call from a good buddy of mine asking me if I was available for a 2-day quickie road trip to Bowling Green, KY to help drive his new brand 2009 Corvette ZR1 1100 miles home to Long Island, NY. Um, yeah… I’m available for that!

UK Garage Offers LS9-powered Lotus Extrema

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Talk about scary fast. Italian tuning company UK Garage is offering an Exige with a 647 hp LS9 from the Corvette ZR1. The chassis has been stretched by 20 cm and widened to fit bigger tires. Of course, these are gonna weigh a tad more than a stock Exige, but still… Kind of makes my head spin just thinking about it. More at Lotus Enthusiast
